Project Finger Puppet.

Project Finger Puppet is GO! Making puppets in this scale and with this technique is something totally new for me, which means I have learned a great deal already. Each puppet is better than the last - which I guess is called "Progress". I had planned to make these puppets quickly and cheaply enough to be able to sell them. That didn't really work out. But I am now inspired to create content for the little buggers and develop a show that can be performed anywhere and for anyone. Hopefully next Summer I will be gracing the International festival circuit with them.

I had thought to start this post with an explanation/justification of why I have neglected this blog for more than a year. But you know what? Fuggit. It's not interesting and no one cares. The glittering highs and shit-smeared lows of my recent past won't even make a footnote in The Bigger Scheme Of Things. So really, fuggit.

What's new is a solo I just made for myself in Amsterdoomed. I was there for most of June working towards presenting 10 minutes of new solo material for a mixed program in Klub X over on NDSM called Freaky Vaudeville. Despite the "challenging conditions" I think I managed to make at least a decent start in a direction I intend to push/pull forward.

The solo is called Absolutely Anything and is mostly about how language fails, how shit happens for no reason, and how you shouldn't trust someone wearing a suit. Thanks to Babs and Bunny for shooting hugely incompatible videos of the premier that I had the profound displeasure of trying to cut together into a passable registration. What I did learn is that you can eliminate colour balance issues by eliminating colour. Here's a link to that edit -

As I say, I intend to develop and expand this into something much bigger and better.

In the mean time I welcome the feedback and comments of all you good folk out there, and in the spirit of Shameless Self Promotion inherent in Social Me!-dia, please do let me know of any festivals/theatres/weddings/bahmiztfahs/funerals that you know of where I might present this work.

Scallywag Theatre is thrilled to announce the new and shiny Super Highway of exciting projects that stretches from the future, through this bubbling present and into our glorious past. Following the brief hiatus in Global Touring which resulted from the untimely and tragic passing of our former agent (well, she dead to me) Scallywag Theatre diversified, re-focused, strengthened our core-values and has risen like a fiery phoenix from the ashes of the economic/cultural Shitegeist.

Driving this re-birth - with the sun-roof open and the hand-brake off while she bangin' on da radio - is the newest member of the Scallywag family, the fabulous Marijana Mikolcic. Working as agent/producer/PR guru and general Rock Star, Scallywag Theatre welcomes Marijana to it's ample but firm bosom with joy and high hopes. She is now the public face and strategic mind behind Scallywag, and while the honeymoon lasts I believe that she'll be a massive success.

The brightest star on the firmament of Scallywag Theatre's near-future galaxy is the upcoming trip to Tallinn, Estonia, to complete work on a new production for the amazing NUKU Theatre there. The new show STICKY will premier in the superb TREFF festival on June 6, and I urge each and every one of you to get to Tallinn on that weekend for one of the best theatre festivals that happens anywhere in the world. I shit you not. TREFF flippin ROCKS.

Dearest Friends Of Scallywag Theatre,

Despite having to compete with the band in the next tent, STAN was a roaring success in Zomerparkfeest in Venlo. Thanks to all of the Festival people for looking after us.

Meanwhile, I'm still in puppet-making-mode, and up to my eyeballs in foam rubber. The latest puppet is for the new show that Duda is making, this time for my old friends The Meek. I'm in the final stretch now and only have hands, feet and painting to do. (Who am I kidding? That ain't "only".) Anyway, have a peak at the sneak preview I've posted with this posting.

Coming up are stints making puppets in Bulgaria and Norway, and an option for Italy next Summer. Nice. Keep you posted.

As Facebook continues to dominate all things Social Media, I'm attempting to jump on the bandwagon rather than be left behind. Hence this Facebook plugin. Not sure exactly what it does or why I need it, though...

Finally finished the last puppet for Duda Paiva's new show for the Estonian State Puppet Theatre, Detox The Dummy. I spent the best part of the past 4 months making 4 monkeys and a giant gorilla head for Detox. That's a lot of monkeying around.
